Ainsley Butler, sustainability director for Building Markets, a non-profit group that promotes business development to reduce poverty, said she thinks it’s positive that the government is encouraging the industry to use mining investment to fight poverty. “It is a powerful tool and this increased co-operation is making mining more beneficial for those at “the bottom of the pyramid,” Ms. Butler said.
